JANUARY/FEBRUARY 2008 NEWSLETER Hello Patchers and Quilters First and foremost may I wish you all a Happy and healthy new Year. I am sorry the January Newsletter is late in being circulated - following the Christmas break I succumbed to one of the many viruses doing the rounds and was confined to bed. As you can see I am, therefore, combining January and February into one Newsletter. I had one or two e mails to say some of you had not received your December Newsletter. They were all sent off at the beginning of December but I think with the postal strike and extra Christmas mail some may have gone astray. If you did not receive yours and would like a copy - please let me know. (sales@kitandkaboodleuk.com) For any of you who receive your Nerwsletter by mail and would prefer to receive it by e mail, again, please let me know. My patch of North Yorkshire has seen a beautiful warm day today - a great improvement on the last few days which have been cold, wet and windy! On those days, though I enjoy being by a warm fire with patchwork on my knee - I find it very comforting. Kit and Kaboodle's visit to Bowes Museum Christmas Fair in December was one such day - our stand was outside and it was very cold. Lots of hot chocolate helped to keep the chills away! Despite the weather it was a very busy day with a wonderful Christmas atmosphere - Carol singers, Jugglers, lots of fresh produce and crafts - all in a beautiful setting. It really helped to get into the Christmas spirit. We were even filmed by Tyne Tees Television. In November we ran a competition in Quick and Easy Stitch and craft where four lucky readers won one of our Debbie Mumm Christmas Stocking Kits. Unfortuntely the magazine is no longer being published but hopefully we will run competitions in the future elsewhere. The Adult Block of the Month for January is 'Snowball and Nine Patch'. Made up of four mini blocks the fabrics are in white, blue and a snowmen print. The block consists of two each of 'Snowball' and 'Nine Patch' mini blocks. The February Block of the Month had a Valentine's theme called 'Pieced Hearts'. This is also masde up of four mini blocks but in this case they are all the same. Four hearts with their points meeting at th centre in red and white fabrics. Both measure 10" x 10" when finished. These can be ordered through the web site. Till next month - Happy Sewing. |
