Hello Patchers and Quilters
Margaret and I have been out and about over the summer. We have been attending agricultural shows in the region through August and September. Despite these shows having been affected by foot and mouth disease there was still a good turn out.
We met up with old friends and made new ones along the way - well done to Denise Davidson for winning prizes with her spectacular log cabin quilt, including a 'Best in Show'.
As the weasther changes we are looking forward to more P and Q time and beginning new projects. This month we are starting a long-term project which we hope you will enjoy. Over the next twelve months we will be producing a 'Block of the Month' (or BOTM!). Each month a different block measuring 10" x 10" square when finished. The kits will include pre-cut patches and full instructions and diagrams. We will not be including wadding or backing - the reason for this being that these blocks could be interpretted in many ways. We have learnt from listening to customers over the summer that they would like a small project - something not to outfacing - these blocks could be used to make - cushion centres, tablemats,hanging pictures (I'm sure you can think of many more ideas) and for the more adventurous at the end of the twelve months the blocks could be sewn together to make a large quilt.
The October block of the month is called 'Swing in the Centre' and consists of four mini blocks to make one large block. If you would like to make this block by hand sewing using English patchwork technique we will include paper pieces. We will add a new block every month to our site. The cost will be £5.00 plus p & p.
New to our web site - we have some Christmas designs including stockings, a Christmas lap quilt, cushion, aprons and evryone's favourite - Christmas decorations. Prices start at £2.75 and go up to £40.00 plus p & p for our Snowman lap quilt.
In October we will be at Swainby Village Hall from 10am - 4pm for their Craft and Antique Fayre. We would love to see you there - pop along and say hello.
