Kit & Kaboodle Patchwork Quilts

November/December 2009 Newsletter

Hello Patchers and Quilters

As always I hope this Newsletter finds you fit and well, and not too harassed from all the Christmas preparations.  To my American Quilters I would like to wish you all Happy Thanksgiving.

Time is creeping up on us but there is still time to make those last minute decorations.  I have introduced some new kits for Christmas.  They are all on the web site and in stock.

I have designed three ‘Mini Christmas Hangers’.  The kits are complete with everything from fabric to needle and thread and hanger.  The finished size is approximately 3 ½” x 6” excluding hanger.  To make the kit involves appliqué, quilting and decorating with embellishments.

27/11  Mini Snowman Hanging

28/11 Mini Wreath Hanging

29/11 Mini Tree Hanging

These make a handy Stocking Filler either to make or already made up.

The Christmas Robin is based on the same principle as the little Chicks kits, but using Christmas fabric.  It is filled with polystyrene balls and I have found if you wanted to scent them with a Christmas oil before ‘stuffing the bird’ the scent lasts a very long time.  Because they are so light they can also be hung from the tree.  The finished size is approximately 3 ½” x 3 ½”. The kits are complete with everything from the fabric to polystyrene balls.

26/11 Fabric Origami Christmas Decoration

Lastly is a Christmas Fabric Origami Christmas Tree Decoration. This measures approximately 3” x 3” on completion (not including the thread/ribbon for hanging).

November 7th was our ‘Taster Patchwork’ day.  All went off well and I think we may have some Quilters emerging, so it is likely that more classes will run in the New Year.  Watch this space! It’s always nice to see new faces as well as old (in the nicest possible way!)

All the ladies were very industrious – and yes – we had chocolate cake!!

This class happened to fall on my birthday and my good friend Margaret turned up with a chocolate birthday cake for me.  Fortunately it did not have the requisite amount of candles on it – it might have burnt the place down!!  At this point I would like to say ‘thank you, thank you, thank you’ to Margaret who offers her support and tea making to the day!

On 28th November I am running a Christmas Workshop, details on web site.  Followed by the last workshop before Christmas on 12th December.  If you are interested please contact me at sales@kitandkaboodleuk.com or by phone 07801 559 667.  The workshops are £25 for the day which includes all materials.  All you bring is your enthusiasm and a packed lunch!  We start at 10am and run through to about 2.30pm.

The Dickensian Christmas Fair at Lightwater Valley near Ripon is on Thursday 3rd December through to Sunday 6th December inclusive.  It should be a fun fair with all traders ‘dressing up’ in Dickensian costume; I look forward to seeing some of you there.

Have a look through the web site www.kitandkaboodleuk.com for those last minute presents and stocking fillers.  There’s a lot to choose from.

As this is the last Newsletter of 2009 I wish you all a very Happy Christmas and Healthy New Year and look forward to ‘touching base’ in the New Year.

Happy Quilting

Nona
