September/October 2009 Newsletter Hello Patchers and Quilters I hope this Newsletter finds you all fit and healthy having enjoyed the summer sunshine. At the moment in my part of North Yorkshire we are enjoying an Indian Summer - long may it last. Since my last Newsletter I have been very busy attending Shows, this year going to some new ones for me. I thoroughly enjoyed Danby Show -not knowing what to expect I was amazed at the turnout of people and the variety of products and produce, there. It was lovely to catch up with some of you at the Shows - it;s always nice to be able to put a face to the name of people who have ordered from me. At one show I was amused by an elderly lady and her teenage granddaughter. As the lady walked past my stall she said ' Oh quilting! I tried that once - what a waste of time, cutting up fabric into little pieces and then sewing them back together again!' The granddaughter was mortified and mouthed an apology to me. I just smiled back and thought what a shame she hadn't got the gist of patchwork! I have finally moved into my new workshop - what a joy! It makes such a difference to have a place for everything and everything in it's place, (in theory). How time saving it is to have everything to hand and to be able to close the door at the end of the day without having to put everything away!. I feel blessed. Prior to moving into the workshop I was busy pressing and cutting on my ironing board and cut striahgt through the iroining board cover - I wonder how many others have done the same? I replaced the cover and lined it with Insulbright Wadding which is used for making oven mitts or other heat resistant items. What a difference it has made to the ironing - it gets done in half the time now. Although I do not have Insulbright on my web site I can supply this, if anyone is interested send me an e mail sales@kitandkaboodleuk.com In December I am taking part in a Dickensian Christmas Fair at Lightwater Valley near Ripon. The dates are Thursday 3rd December through to Sunday 6th December inclusive. I understand that last year this fair was listed 10th best Christmas Fair in the country by the Times Newspaper. All stallholders are asked to dress in Dickensian costume. (Must put that on my list of 'to dos' - make a costume!). Check out the fabrics section for new fabrics. New Christmas Decoration kits under the Christmas section. Lavender Sachets kits to make or give as gifts - four different colours and eight different designs.
