Kit & Kaboodle Patchwork Quilts

March/April 2009 Newsletter

MARCH/APRIL 2009 - NEWSLETTER

Hello Patchers and Quilters

It must be getting warmer, yesterday I saw two bumble bees in my garden.  They must have been attracted by all the flowers that are now blooming.  Isn’t it cheery to have some colour in the garden again?

I have been very busy since my last Newsletter – sorting shows, sourcing new fabrics and designing some new kits.  I have also given a talk to the Farm Women’s Club in Northallerton.  There were probably a few ladies there who could have shown me a thing or two! However I don’t profess to be an Expert more an Enthusiast – as they say that ‘Life is a Learning Curve’.

I have a couple of new kits this month.  One I hope you will enjoy for Easter – it is called Log Cabin Chick.  The chick is made from log cabin blocks with the addition of tail ‘feathers’, a comb and beak (of course) and I used two tiny buttons for the eyes.  It is filled with polystyrene balls.  If you were thinking of making it for a baby or small child, I would suggest using wadding as the filling and substituting embroidered eyes for the buttons.  Filling it with dry rice would make it heavier and could be used as a paperweight.

The chicks come in six colour ways: green. yellow, pink, black/white, blue and orange.  The cost is £5 per kit plus p & p.  As usual everything is enclosed even the polystyrene balls!  The finished size is approximately 3 ½” x 3 ½”.

I have put some in a little basket with tissue paper nesting and mini eggs under the chick as gifts for my family.

The second kit is a cot quilt.  Another design based on log cabin with delicate colours and a Winnie the Pooh fabric.  It would be suitable for boys or girls.  The current thought is that cot quilts are not suitable for children under 12 months, but until then it would make a lovely play or kicking mat for a baby.  The finished size is approximately 33” x 47” and the kit contains all you need.  This retails at £25 plus p & p.

Both kits can be ordered from the web site or e mail me at sales@kitandkaboodleuk.com

I have added another feature for these new kits.  On the web site you will see I am also offering them ‘ready made’.  I hope to do this with more kits in the future.  However if there was something you particularly liked that wasn’t advertised as ‘ready made’ please e mail me and I will see what I can do.
